two-thousand and eleven: a blessed year.

this year has been one of the most busiest, stressful, long, short, and beautiful years in all my life. I’ve learned so much about myself and my purpose in this little world of mine. I’ve been challenged, I’ve been broken, and I have been saved in so many ways. with struggle, I have proven to myself my own strength. I am not who I was december of 2010. this year has been a year of discovery. this year has been a year of being truly, madly, deeply alive. this year has been a year of love.

here are a few highlights-

january: engagement photos & the finalizing of details for a certain big day.

february: ai yai yai. what a month. what a perfect blessed month. we moved into our very first home. I met one of the most influential ladies in my life. and we were married by my sweet grandfather in snowy salt lake city (surrounded by a sea of everyone we love.)

march: honeymooning in disneyland. meeting two more of my favorite ladies. and chance became part of our family.

april: we celebrated three years of loving each other & I finished up my culinary externship at the end of the month.

may: we celebrated the handsome man’s 21st birthday, I graduated culinary school, + my sweet grandparents & brother & sister - in - law came for a visit.

june: we spent most of our first days of summer floating in the lake & hiking the hills.

july: my 19th birthday. a visit from my ladies, and a much needed trip to texas.

august: oscar joined our family & we decided to be better to our bodies.

september: we traveled down south to spend labor day weekend with our dear friends & the ocean. then we went to our very first major league baseball game together.

october: I spent most of this month in france & germany (I still can’t get over that.) and then came home to dress our animals up for our first halloween as a family.

november: we were blessed with yet another trip to texas to see our families & then we decorated for christmas extra early, and absolutely feasted on our first thanksgiving as a family. (I also became a licensed driver finally this month!!!)

december: along with steven’s surgery and his promotion, we have been preparing like mad men for the holidays. baking, diy cards, gifts, and decor galore! the shopping was done weeks ago & now we are twiddling our thumbs for the next week. we also are so terribly excited for the new home we will be moving into in 2012. hooray!

looking back I just feel really grateful. this year we were blessed with health, safety, financial security, relaxation, a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. 2011 was a good one.
